FLY. RIDE.ANYWHERE.

I left the Army and moved into telecommunications, work that kept me travelling throughout Asia, including long stretches based in Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia and Indonesia, and time living in India and the Philippines. Motorcycling, particularly adventure riding, came with me everywhere.

The ride was never the problem. It was everything around it.

Every journey that combined flying with riding meant carrying gear designed for one or the other, never both. Extra luggage had to go somewhere when I wasn't on the motorcycle. Nothing was broken, exactly. It simply wasn't designed as one connected system.

ROVAGRID began with a question I couldn't find a good answer to: what if the gear moved the way the traveller actually does, from the plane to the motorcycle, from the motorcycle to the hotel, and back again?

Some of the thinking goes back further than motorcycling. The Shield concept was inspired by an Army pack with a protective hood that provided flexible capacity without requiring another bag. The rest came from years of group rides, working out how gear attaches to different motorcycles, how to reach what you need without unpacking everything, and where a jacket goes when you don't want it buried.

ROVAGRID isn't intended to replace gear that already works. For many journeys, a duffle secured to the back of the motorcycle is all you need.

It is designed for journeys that involve more than riding: a week on the motorcycle followed by three days in a city, or a flight in and out with luggage that must perform both jobs without becoming dead weight.

ROVAGRID isn't built for every rider or every trip. It is built for the part of the journey ordinary motorcycle luggage was never designed to solve.
